Kings Road, London, 1968, and a 26 year old fashion illustrator from Ohio forms his own company and creates a whole new industry.  I.M. International ( I.M for ‘Imaginative Minds’) was the world’s first fashion forecasting company, the young David Wolfe decades ahead of his time in his understanding that the fashion industry didn't need to know what was happening ‘now’, but what would be happening ‘tomorrow’.  Having created the forecasting industry, by the early 1970s, Wolfe realized that the future of fashion retailing would generate from the U.S, and relocating to New York, he founded The Fashion Service, America’s first dedicated forecasting company.  Presently the Senior Creative Director of The Doneger Group and LIM College Advisory Board Member, Wolfe’s 53 years in fashion prompted The New York Times to dub him; ‘Fashion’s most authoritative spokesperson’.

At the start of his ascension to his role as Godfather of Forecasting, David Wolfe became an actual father to his spirited daughter, Amanda.  Rebelling against her father’s love of fashion, as soon as Amanda reached her teens, she threw herself into the 1980s music industry, making records with such ‘80s musical luminaries as The Smiths and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.  Returning to education in her early twenties, Amanda went on to become a historian, journalist and author, and it was whilst in her thirties that her background in cultural and popular history merged with her childhood as Forecasting’s First Daughter,and found Amanda Hallay as the European Fashion Editor of Couture and Men Mode Magazines, as well as the European Trend Forecaster for The Doneger Group.

In 2008, Hallay joined the academic community of LIM College, where she now serves as Assistant Clinical Professor in Fashion Merchandising, teaching courses she created exclusively for LIM College, including "Cultural Connections to Fashion", "Who Wore What When", and "Pop Century", her dad a regular guest speaker in all of her courses.

David Wolfe and Amanda Hallay have been dubbed ‘The Fondas of Fashion’, a father-daughter team of cultural visionaries, each of whom bring their own, unique perspective to the field of fashion. Whereas Wolfe is pure fashion, Hallay is pure history, the combination of the two making for a spirited union of minds.

Never happier than when disputing and dissecting the future of fashion,  LIM College’s Fashion: Now & Then invite you to join in with one of David and Amanda's lively, unconventional conversations,which will be followed by a book signing of their most recent collaboration, the cool and kitschy cocktail tome, Vintage Cocktails: Retro Recipies for the Home Mixologist during a cocktail hour which will include Sea Breeze mocktails and cocktails as well as other light refreshments.



Paper Doll books illustrated by David Wolfe will be available for sale and can be signed by him at the event!
