Lauren Downing to Co-Present "The Anthropologie of a Brand-Focused Online Shopping Community"
Lauren Downing graduated from the MA Fashion Studies program at Parsons the New School for Design in May 2012. She received her BA from Washington University in St. Louis where she majored in Art History and Anthropology. Currently, she works as a part-time faculty member at the New School where she teaches art and design history and theory. She is also a co-editor, art director, and co-founder of Fashion Studies Journal, an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal for the academic study of fashion design and theory. Her current research examines how women cultivate fashionable identities within the plus-size marketplace. Lauren has presented on this topic at the Pop Culture Association of America's annual conference and her work is soon to be published in CUNY's FRAME journal. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York with her husband Jon.
On Friday, October 19th and Saturday, October 20th professionals from the fashion industry, libraries, archives, academic institutions, publishers, and museums will gather at LIM College for Fashion: Now & Then, a conference on the past, present, and future uses of fashion information that will consist of lectures and panel discussions.
